People ask me all the time, so what do YOU eat? Well, I follow the Nutrition Solutions foundations just like I teach all my clients! No point preaching it if I can’t walk the walk, right? Here is what I ate today, 2/20. I actually didn’t plan on logging it today, so it’s not premeditated, I am just stumped for what to blog about.
8:30 am:
4 egg whites +1 whole egg
1 oz Cabot 75% reduced fat cheddar cheese
handful baby spinach, some mushrooms, 1/4 red bell pepper
LightLife soy sausage (1 oz)
Coffee with unsweetened Silk soymilk and Splenda
(workout) 20 minutes cardio, 30 minutes lifting
12 noon: 2.5 cups MultiGrain cheerios
2 pm: 10 box frozen spinach, cooked into 1 bowl lentil and beef soup.
1 Greek Yogurt, 2 T flaxseed, 1/2 cup each strawberries and blueberries
3:45 pm 2 tablespoons Smuckers Natural PB
6:00 pm 2 oz Jarlsberg Light Swiss cheese (snack in the car)
6:30 pm (“Stir Fry”, no oil)
2 cups sugar snap peas, 1/2 red bell pepper, 3 green onions
1 Boca burger, (Original Vegan) chopped
(garlic powder, soy sauce, hot pepper flakes)
8:00 pm Dark Chocolate Zone bar
So what’s my review of myself?
Good job on the eating frequency. Lots of protein in there (eggs, cheese, yogurt, beef, lentils, soy sausage and Boca burger, PB) Enough calcium from the lowfat cheeses, soymilk and yogurt. Healthy fats from flaxseed and peanut butter. Replenished glycogen with carbs after working out (so I’m fueled up for FitFast tomorrow!). One thing I could improve on is that I had several snacks which didn’t include any fruits or veggies, but I did have huge portions of them at other meals. I will work on toting some baby carrots or apples with me.
Just for fun I ran it on a nutrition analysis program I have: I estimated my calories as about 2000 and the program put me at 2067 calories so far. Damn I’m good! You’d think I was…a dietitian! :)
So Devon, the answer to your question is I eat 30% calories from fat (36% carbs, 34% protein)
(Edit I was still hungry and had some Glenny’s soy crisps at 8:30) so add another 150 calories.
