And … they’re off!
Last night was our final session for another group class, which means sending another handful off as NS graduates. Well, there’s no goodbyes, as I’m still here and in touch with them. But now it’s really up to them to take what they’ve learned and keep flying with it, practicing it, and making it their own. It’s really only the beginning. A few thoughts for my fledglings:
The hard part is staying motivated without the face-to-face with a dietitian every week. Unfortunately, unless you’re a pro ball player, cheerleaders aren’t included in your gig. You’re going to have be your own, and recruit a whole squad to help if needed. Find and create motivation in every form possible. It might be a supportive spouse or friend, a medical condition you want to improve or eliminate, the 5K you want to run, the energy you feel when you eat better, or the thought of setting a good example for your kids. Surround yourself with motivators. Create them, see them everywhere, in everything.
Build that successful environment we talked about. (That includes the kitchen, your fridge, your work space, how you shop….keep your environment supportive and you will stay on track.)
Do both of the above and you have mental, emotional, and physical resources to keep you moving in the right direction for all your life. (pssst, neither is specific to nutrition/health goals either….)
